While the weather in the North East has been mild by any standards, it is still February. Studies tell us that the yearning for spring looms strong from now till 4/1! The solution? Throw a Doldrums Soiree! Just catered such an event Saturday. It was fun, festive and got the results needed.

The menu supported the theme of the evening: laugh, drink and celebrate!

After a few appetizers...

Chinese-Food-Takeout Station: Grab a pair of chopsticks and fill your takeout container to your heart's content:

  1. Chicken and Broccoli
  2. 5-Ingredient Fried Rice
  3. Chinese Style Green Beans
  4. Avocado Egg Rolls w/Sweet and Sour Dipping Sauce
  5. Fortune Cookies (of course!)  

Then, move down the table and enjoy the Make-Your-Own-Taco Station:

  1. Choose soft or hard tacos (or both)
  2. Grilled Mahi-Mahi
  3. Carne Asada w/Skirt Steak
  4. And, every possible topping anyone might want on a fish or beef taco. 

Dessert: Fried ice cream, anyone?

Next time you throw a party for whatever reason, think outside the box and go for the unexpected. There are endless station possibilities for any palet and your guests will have fun!
